\"ottawaAlthough this site is principally centred around restaurant reviews from Ottawa and the surrounding areas, we would not want you to believe that we are setting ourselves up as professional food critics or restaurant reviewers. As described below, we mostly review local restaurants, but since we travel widely, we will also discuss the gastronomic delights encountered on such trips. To date, we have included such venues as New York (City and State), Florida, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

We don’t want you to get the wrong idea! We are not setting ourselves up as top notch food critics. However, for about the last four years, a small closely-knit group has made a habit of going out together on a Friday evening to a local restaurant. Since our group almost always includes one or more young children and none of us is inordinately wealthy, we typically frequent family-friendly, moderately priced establishments.<\/p>\n

Our group is typically comprised of myself, my wife Dorothy, our good friends, Greg & Norma and their three granddaughters Amber, Lara and Fayth. Other family members or friends often accompany this core group. We affectionately refer to ourselves as “The Supper Seven”! Since we all live in the east end of Ottawa (or Gloucester in its previous life), we tend to stick to our own neck of the woods. After all, most of you can appreciate that three hungry young ladies can become restless if supper is too far removed.<\/p>\n

One of the main ideas for this blog came from the realization that we are often faced with a couple of dilemmas on a typical Friday evening:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. We often feel the need to venture away from the same old restaurants that we visit week-in week-out.<\/li>\n
  2. Yellow pages don’t tell you whether the food is good or the place is child-friendly or even if it still exists.<\/li>\n
  3. Will they able to accomodate our group on short notice without an interminable wait time?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    As a result of all of the above, we have about a dozen venues that meet both our likes and our requirements. We are always on the lookout for new ones!
